Foam or Hard plastic grips on trekking poles?

I just bought some black diamond trekking poles with foam grips/handles but i realize now that for showshoeing in winter the grips may become saturated with water if snow gets on them and thus getting my gloves wet and freezing my hands. Is this plausible?I would imagine in summer rain the foam grips would be the same problem?Yay or Nay?
I would say hard plastic would be better for this issue?
I know this will end in gear topix but i wanted to get as quick replies as possible since im going snowshoeing tomorrow-
Thanks
