Foam or Hard plastic grips on trekking poles?

I just bought some black diamond trekking poles with foam grips/handles but i realize now that for showshoeing in winter the grips may become saturated with water if snow gets on them and thus getting my gloves wet and freezing my hands.Is this plausible?I would imagine in summer rain the foam grips would be the same problem?Yay or Nay?
I would say hard plastic would be better for this issue?

Synthetic cork grips FTW.

But since you already have the poles, and you're going tomorrow, just roll with it...no reason they should get too wet anyway.

You could always wrap duct tape or something around them to waterproof the grips. I'm surprised that there aren't waterproof foam or spongy grips already. I do prefer foam over hard plastic. I also like cork grips but I have foam grips on my current trekking pole. I like my ski poles grips. They're made of a cushy rubber so they don't absorb water.
