Nice. Quite unusual spring sequence this year in Antelope Valley with poppies way out of synce with goldfields and other species, coming out unusually late. See you were there during early morning when the poppies were closed up. Did you wait around till they fully opened maybe at 10am? How were the usual winds? Notice you found a few nice closeup pics at least early when it is usually calmer.
Dave, I was there late afternoon between 6:15-7:15pm. I was on my way to Ridgecrest, and this was a new route for me (coming from Santa Barbara). It was a little breezy, so a lot of pics were blurry. I went by again the following week (seemed like less flowers out where these were taken), but drove some of the dirt roads.
