Bear Crime, caught on tape!!!

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Just saw this on CNN... hilarious, but as the speaker on the tape says, "Lesson learned: never leave food out!"

Surprising that the people made the effort to put things into the bear box, but then did not shut/lock it? I guess they could have been in the process of unpacking other things, but without it being closed, the box serves nothing but the purpose of being a buffet table!

Instead of filming, put the camera down and go an close the door before the bear gets there. Or, make an attempt to shoo the bear away. Just standing there filming and letting the bear get the food just contributes to the bear problem.
