Class-Action suit against online campsite reservation fees

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Class-Action suit against online campsite reservation fees

Post by thegib »

Hi all

I was heartened to read this: https://www.sfgate.com/national-parks/a ... 319828.php

The gist is a lawsuit was filed charging the company that runs, and collects fees from, reservecalifornia.com is breaking the 'junk fee' law (SB478 passed in July 2024). The company, Tyler Technologies, adds a 'reservation fee' that's not accounted for in the price listed. I'm glad to see someone fighting against the creeping privatization of previously public services (and soon of public property). The source is SFGate, so add salt.
