Zinio Valley Campground alternatives

Post by danlederer »

Hi~ I made the grave mistake of not reserving myself a tent site for this Monday night at OV and desperately want to acclimate before hiking Kearsage
(especially since Im carrying in a resupply for a buddy)

I assume Zinio is some sort of typo.

Acclimatization is funny. It's best to do it the day before, as exercise. A day hike in Little Lakes Valley for example. When you sleep high, it can make for disturbed sleep. But yeah, I often don't have time the day before to hike high, so I do the same as you (sleep >6000-7000 ft). Better than nothing.

You could try the Independence Creek campground, or dispersed camping in the BLM area before you hit forest service land.
