This week we celebrate Thanksgiving in the USA, and we thought we'd take just a minute to mention some of the things we are grateful for:
Top among those are our apparent good health, and the fact that we have each other and continue to be in love after 38 years of marriage. We wish all of you the same.
We're also enormously grateful for the fact that we live in a place and time that allows us to enjoy the beauty of nature when and where we would like, with wonderful national parks, forests, and wilderness areas. And we should mention the many people who have joined us in our celebration of the wilderness, from those on these backpacking message forums, to those we have taken along on a hike. We thank you all.

Re: Grateful for
Besides the obvious, grateful for the wonderful community we have here at HST, and especially for the special friendships that some us have developed over the years with other fellow members. In this crazy word of ours, its great to know that their are people who have you back, willing to do anything for you, just as you would be willing for them.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Grateful for
After having been maried to "saint" Diane for 39 years (she died in 2012) I'm so fortunate to be married for more than a year to "saint" Marilin. One would have to be a "saint" to put up with me and that certainly appliies to Diane. Marilin adores me as I do her and she has to be a "saint" to do that. I am so thankful. No matter what I do my I pad turns the photos up side down.
