We are considering trips starting at Edison and/or Florence Lake this year.
In a low snow year - which it appears to be, again - can we pretty much count on Edison being drained? That affects us in two ways - (1) boat shuttle is non-existent or very short, requiring us to walk around the lake; and (2) it probably just isn't very pretty when drained.
What about Florence Lake?

Re: Ferries on Edison and Florence Lakes
Edison will close a lot quicker than Florence will. The other end of Edison is so shallow that they have to switch to smaller boats quickly, and then avoid lots of tree stumps maneuvering as far up as they can. The lake was so low in August that we had to carry the kayaks nearly a half mile from where we parked near the dock. Last year, Florence ran much later in the year than Edison.

I don't know about Florence Lake but when it comes to Edison I've always gotten great support from the VVR Facebook page. All you have to do is ask a question and either Jim or his wife will reply with up to date information.

MTR (owns the Florence Lake Ferry), I don't think, is on social media but they're usually pretty responsive from their website. Unfortunately that site appears to be down right now but doubt that's permanent. http://www.muirtrailranch.com/
From an archived version of their site:
The best way to get a hold of us throughout the year is by email
During our operating season, June through September, write to us at:
Muir Trail Ranch
P.O. Box 176
Lakeshore, CA 93634
During the off-season, October through May, our address is:
Muir Trail Ranch
P.O. Box 700
Ahwahnee, CA 93601
To get information about current weather or trail conditions, use our email address, which gets directly to the ranch.
Our telephone is activated only during our off-season, usually October through May. There is no telephone at the ranch, only at our business office 100 miles away.
Our email address: howdy@muirtrailranch.com
WAYBACKMACHINE is awesome (albeit, kind of creepy if you're a site owner and also serves as good warning for web users to never post anything you don't want to be permanent) for archived sites; check it out: http://archive.org/web/

The Waybackmachine is pretty cool. I went and look at some stuff from a site that I belonged to 10 years ago. Everything was suppose to have been lost in a site crash but there some of it was.
