History of trails in Sequoia NP

Hi all,

I've been doing a lot of hiking in SEKI this summer, much of it away from maintained trails. I've been surprised to find so many historic use trails throughout the park. For example, the picture attached was taken on the way to Lucy's Foot Pass/Harrison Pass from East Lake on a very steep, intermittent trail that branches east and south off of the East Lake/Lake Reflection Trail. It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but the blazes look a lot like the shape of Texas.

Does anyone know anything about the history of trailbuilding in the High Sierra, or know of a resource about it?
