Kaweah Queen South Ridge

Is it possible to ascend Kaweah Queen from Pyra-Queen Col? Anyone have any pictures of that angle?Thanks!

Just so I'm not mistaken, the summit is the darker one in the distance, right?

Maybe skirt the closer buttress on it's right side and make my way up...

High Sierra Trail with some of my family. I've done it before so I'm detouring through Kaweah Basin to meet back up with them in junction Meadow so I can see some new stuff. Just hoping to bag a peak along the way.

Hi Limpingcrab,

How loose is that terrain over to Queen Kaweah? I have not gone that way, so I can not offer an answer based on personal experience. But on going over Pyra-Queen Col, I have found the rock terrifyingly loose. Maybe consider Lawson Peak as an alternative?

I am likely heading out over the Kaweah Gap this Sunday (July 13). If you see some old guy on Medicare limping along, stop and say hi and we can share notes.

Enjoy the Kaweah Basin. You will possibly have it all to yourself!
