Southern Ansel Adams 5/22-5/29
Southern Ansel Adams Wilderness...May 22nd. to 29th. No mosquitoes out of lake Thomas Edison at first, from Edison elevation up to 10,000 ft. However, by 26th. a few very cold & slow mosquitoes at 10,000 ft. even though lots of snow patches everywhere and lakes thawing. (Where the hell do they hatch in ice???). By 29th. hitting patches of level 2 mosquitoes that were out and attempting to bite, midday, near water at 9,000 ft. down to 8,000 ft. None in dry trail areas through forest and granite at these elevations. Also less for some reason at lower elevations down near Edison. None at Edison trail-head parking on afternoon of 29th., but may be at night? If not will be soon I bet.

Lk. Vernon and Branigan Lks.
Welcome to HST michaelziim, and thanks for posting the update.
Here is my update from last weekend near Lake Vernon, Branigan Lakes, and Andrews Lake, North from Hetch Hetchy in Yosemite: levels varied from 1 to 3. Bothersome at varying levels most of the time, used DEET twice, got many bites. Wind clears them out. I can provide more details about specific areas if needed.

Potter Pass, Twin Lakes, Huntington
No bites. Visible mosquitoes flying around but they were not paying any attention to us at all.

Emigrant Wilderness 5/30-6/1
5/30 - 6/1 Emigrant Wilderness, Gianelli Cabin Trailhead
It was mostly windy enough to keep the mosquitoes away, but when the wind stopped it was mostly in the 2 to 3 range.

Thanks Walter, and welcome to HST!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
