Tree Types

So oldranger and I were having a talk about what types of trees these two are if not the same type completely. I figure there are people on this board that know allot more than I do so name that mountain? Name these trees!

To add a little relavent info: Rogue took these pics between Observation Peak and Cartridge creek. I think at 9800 feet or above. They certainly are white pines but which? There are known Foxtails in the area but they could also be atypical whitebark or possibly even western white pines with an even more outside chance of a west side limber pine. By enlarging the pics from Rogues photo stream cones consistent with western whites and Foxtails are clearly visible on the ground. From my interpretation of the needles they do not appear consistent with the "bottlebrush" form of the Foxtails.

My initial impression was that they were western white pines but ???

The first tree was taken at 9480 and the second was at 9000.

Given the elevation I'm sticking with my first impression--Western white pines.

Russ the large file helps with the detail in recognizing the cones on the ground.

Well it's not a foxtail.

I'm guessing western white pines, also. Bodacious gnarlious variety of the species in particular (heh heh )

Yes, White Pine, (Pinus monticola) based on the size of the cones. However, the bark looks oddly red.

They are slow to load because I linked the full size images which are 5616 X 3744 and typically range around 20MB.
