Seeking Bigfoot Encounter Stories

I can only add my voice to those with anecdotal evidence. I have hiked and backpacked for several thousand miles in the Sierra, and have seen many, many animals. I have never seen Big Foot, nor have I ever seen scat or tracks that could have been from Big Foot.

You can add that to the database you are compiling.

To the OP, why are you only interested in central and southern Sierra?

I don’t know what to think about some fairly recent (last 50 years) encounters in the northern Sierra. The two stories I am referring to is the one from Deso, and then Buck Forester’s account. I cannot say but the Deso account is chilling and the dude even took BF researchers back to the exact spot.

I once heard something very close to my camp in the middle of the night while on a solo trip in the Warner Mountains (I know, not the Sierra). I cannot to this day even guess what the noise was. It was a tree scraping, crashing type of noise that didn’t last very long. Very chaotic noise, kind of like scaring turkeys off their roost minus the turkeys. Woke me up and I never went back to sleep.

I wonder how many early sightings were actually indigenous, aboriginal humans. Ishi sure freaked some people out...

Though I have never had a Bigfoot Sierra experience (other than the beer)...these folk did while camped in Monanche Mdws area:

OK. You guys win! You have convinced me of the folly of this line of questioning. Bigfoot can't exist because you say they can't and have never seen any evidence to that point. You've also never heard any stories or seen any evidence so there isn't any. Thanks for setting me straight and saving me from untold hours of futile searching and embarrassment.

To be clear, I am trying to inject a little humor here instead of the frustration I'm feeling. Here's the thing. I'm not arguing. I was trying to be polite and address the statements and replies I got. Most of you seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time and effort to try to prove me wrong or make me look like a fool. I will freely admit that I spend a fair amount of time as both and I'm not afraid to admit it. The attitude I sense from most of the posters seems to be fairly misguided in the assumption that by starting this post:

A. I am asking/looking for evidence or proof

B. I want to debate or argue the existence or non-existence of these creatures

I am not, and I don't. I just want to hear peoples stories if there are any to be heard here.

Atreehugger and Flip, I appreciate the posts. That Monache sighting is a classic. There are some from the Big Meadow, Horse, Strawberry, Parker and Jerky Meadow areas to name a few.

I'm interested in Southern/Central because those are the area's I can get to within 4-6 hours. Any further and I end up spending too much money on gas and too much time in the car and not enough time fishing and hiking.

I'd like to see bigfoot too. It would be a real miracle if a critter that big could live in granite successfully.

Maybe the decline of the pika has to do with bigfoot....

There used to be a Bigfoot Cafe in Oakhust. good burgers and shakes, but he was never there when I was was.

Feel free to load the KMZ. I haven't yet. I had it once and read some of the reports linked in. It works a lot like links to photos and other such stuff in GE.
