hitch or shuttle from south or north lake
I was wondering how hard it is to get a hitch into Bishop from South or North Lake trailheads. I am taking off from Mammoth on the JMT and exiting at one of these places. Also, has anyone taken the bus between Bishop and Mammoth? This is how I plan on getting back to my truck. Thanks

Have hitched a ride once from Bishop to South Lake, South Lake to North Lake
a couple of times, and from Whitney to 120/395 Junction, the 120 junction to
Tuolumne took the longest, luckily a park employee came by otherwise it would
have been a long haul up.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Its possible to hitch, you just have to be patient, which is hard because it can be bloody hot. There are people going but, but its not yosemite. If you run out of patience there are folks in Bishop that ferry hikers for $20-30. The sporting good store in town has a list of the current people.
I have taken the CREST bus from Mammoth to Bishop. I assume that the other direction is similar. I didn't have any problems with it. It arrives on time, you give the driver the fare and an hour later give or take and you are there.
