Re: Tioga Pass opening date
Here's the pic from the Yose status page:
That plus the side roads might take more than a week, but, we'll see. Still, if you go up there to hike, guess what you're hiking on until at least Julyish sometime. Guess the HSC's at vogelsang and merced won't open up until 7/29 at the earliest. I would think that is dependent on whether the trails are stock capable.

Re: Tioga Pass opening date
Tioga Pass Rd was open today for cars from Lee Vining to the south end of Tioga Lake-about half a mile from the entrance station. I took advantage of it and drove up.
Tioga Lake was still all ice,but Ellery Lake was about 30% ice free.
The road to Saddlebag Lake was closed.

Re: Tioga Pass opening date
LMBSVG guessed June 17…closest one to June 18 opening announcement-
BTW, Tim hedged his July 24th guess and also included June 17…(alas, no double guessing!).
Looks like we have a (wiener) winner!
Nice job LMBSVG!

It's pretty sorry when a county website comes out with the info before your own
official NPS site does!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Tioga Pass opening date
Very true. Probably a person vs. process issue with how the NPS website gets updated.
Now, hopefully, http://tenaya.ucsd.edu/tioga/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; can get their Tioga webcam back on it's casters.

Oh, I dunno, it probably doesn't look a lot different from what it did back in December '09, right now

Right up until the first storm this winter
. Their last pic was just before all hell broke loose on the pass that year. They are trying to shift technology to std SAT uplink, solar, batteries, due to the phone/power issues. Hope they do.
Nice job LMBSVG, on the guesstimate!

With the parks budgetary issues really don't think that is going to happen any time in the
near future, but hope I'm wrong like with the opening date.
