coffee press choices

off topic, but i'm not stupid about my trips, and if i die out there, like that other macabre thread, I'm ok with it. But, I will press coffee beforehand.

Actually, if you're real serious about coffee, you even take the press on the 24 hour slog through the bog and the thicket and the buck brush strewn slope.

Best espresso in the world when you're done with all that.

But I make someone else on my search squad carry it.

Not sure what your after on the 24 hr slog thing, but yes, the press is in my pack. As is the lb of coffee.

And yes, it's been on many slogs, including up buckbrush-filled creeks in canyons. Well, different presses as they keep breaking. hence, my original question.

I'm going with the Ti press.

All i'm after is a nice cup of coffee in the morning, and after the evening meal. If i have to search for someone, that would be a different setup.

I think you have made me want to carry my ti press again. The best possible cup, made with the best water, is a very good thing. A pound of coffee is much to carry, but done right could be oh so worth it.

I never thought there was a "recipe" for cowboy coffee, but there is, plus a technique to making a good cup. I modified the technique for kitchen use and.....not bad at all! This, coming from a Melita guy.

Wow freestone, that's a lot of work for a pot of coffee. As someone noted in the comments to that video, he used enough wood to roast a pig!
And how do you get "euphoria" out of a cup of coffee?
Entertaining video at the least.
Though I am interested in at least trying this method, maybe while car camping, for backpacking I like my titanium french press.
