Third time's a charm Mt Abbot 13,715'
Third attempt and finally made this summit, time and weather stopped me before, so I decided to do it as an overnight instead of a dayhike. Perfect weather this time, needed crampons for the couloir in the morning, the airy bridge is airy but not scary and if you dont look for the easiest route you can get into a little tough class 3 instead of easy class 3. Don't let the loose crap right off the couloir bother you, the ridge is pretty solid. Click on the photo to see the rest

Wonderful pix of a great trip, ridgeline! Also one of my favorite regions of the Sierra.

Yes, that photo is Mt. Gabb. Nice report and photos--they bring back the memories. It's been quite awhile (Dade, Abbot in 1977).
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Isn't there an easier way up there besides that couloir? A looked at that route a couple times this past summer. People coming down in late Aug/early Sept were complaining britterly about the snow.
Where did you overnight before ascending?

Up the couloir is the most direct and easy route.

Well I'm doing Abbott from Treasure Lakes in late July. The sun doesn't shine in that couloir very often. I looked at the route from Treasure Lakes twice last summer, but didn't try it (lazy, guitar). so I guess i can say this will be my third time.
