Shopping at my local Sacramento ACE Hardware yesterday, the guy in back of me in line was talking to a teenager saying that he (the older guy) was/ had not grown up yet...had spent the last 20+ years building backpacks instead...follow your dreams, etc.
I looked back and noticed the distinct Gregory logo on his shirt, I asked if he was perhaps somehow related to the same Gregory of backpack fame. Yes...main man Wayne Gregory in person!
We spent the next 20 minutes discussing backpacks, this forum, and backpacking in gereral...too cool! I did ask him why you cannot put a Bearikade Weekender horizontal in any of the Z Packs or Devas... just 1 inch too small. He said he was actually aware of this particular problem and they were working on it.
I invited him to post here ...(Hope so), and got his phone number...nice meeting a true legend, and a regular guy.

Re: Met Wayne Gregory
Hope he starts participating in this forum. I've used my Gregory (Forrester) pack for several years and am very happy with it. I've looked at a few others over the years but have always come back to Gregory. A bit on the heavy side, but it carries the weight well.

My first large pack is a Gregory Lassen. At the time I couldn't believe how comfortable a larger pack could be. I still use it when out on longer trips.
