Something a bit different from the High Sierra - spent a very relaxing week on Oahu. Despite stepping on a bee our first day (nixed long walks/hikes for a few days), then getting my back a bit sunburnt the second (nixed the beach for a day), we had a great time - the best meal of our lives at Roy's, relaxing days on the beach, and the nice thing about a 3 hour time change: it was easy to wake up to watch the sunrise day after day. Not too much hiking involve: hiked at sunrise to the top of Diamond Head, and another to Wiamea Falls (although neither of these I'd say qualify as a true hike), most of the mountains where the good hikes are were socked in with clouds. Just another reason to head back sometime

Don't step on the Man-of-War's! One day we counted 98 washed up along Kailua Beach, another day we counted 92, and another day I found myself grabbing my wife out of the way of one in the surf .
