What and where is you first meal out?
You have been backpacking for several days, what is the first thing you dream about
eating or drinking when you get out?
Cold beer, ice cream, pizza, mexican, hamburger?
Do you have a ritual of going to the same eatery when you get out in each area of the
Sierra?
Like mexican or danish pastries in Bishop, pizza and beer in Groveland, burgers at
Toulumne meadows, or eating at the gas station at 120/395 junction.
Or do you just get something for the ride home?

Coming out of 120 on the East side, We sometimes stop at TPR. But if everyone agrees and can hold the hunger until Bridgeport, we stop at the Jolly Kone.. Amazing Burgers, Great fries, and Blackberry Malts
Beer is not so conducive for the 5 hr trip i have after TPR, given i usually drive.
We have gotten sick on the way in on Pizza, which didn't make the first few days fun. RTP in Placerville at least twice.
TPR is very good if you can't wait on the way out. Desert is really, really nice.

I have to agree with skibum on this one.... pizza, salad, and cold beer is REALLY good!
If I'm coming out via Whitney, I dream about those Whitney Portal Burgers! I haven't tried the "mooseburger" yet, though. They look awfully good, but there's no way I could finish one.... they're HUGE!!!
I might try this summer though...

If I'm anywhere within an hours drive of Lee Vining - even if its out of the way - you'll find me stuffing my face at Whoa Nellie Deli. If that's too far, then its usually a quick stop at In-n-out for a burger (never eat fast food except after a backpacking trip).

This is great! Now I have some new places to check out when I have finished my trips.
Keeping coming coming folks the more areas we cover the better.
Jolly Kone does have good burgers, and Nellie Deli is great too(fish tacos, salmon salad
and ceasar chicken salad wrap) yummy.

In the old days when leaving yosemite going s. I'd stop at A&W for real rootbeer float in a frosted mug. Now it is soft icecream in a paper cup so I pass it up (actually I haven't exited to the park s. since the old days (70s) after bp trip. On east side it is whoa nelli deli.

Since I'm usually driving a beer is out as much as I would like one.

I agree!!! My dad and I started doing that 30+ years until he passed away and now I keep the tradition alive. The Other Tom wrote:Breakfast at Nicely's in Lee Vining.
