Where are the photo's of rivers?

We all love our Sierra mountains, lakes, waterfalls, flowers, and fall foliage
as our subjects for photography but what about the neglected rivers?
I haven't seen any photograph's of any of our many beautiful Sierra rivers like
the Kings, San Joaquin, Merced, Tuolumne, and the Kern River to name the
major ones, and so many creeks that it would take several pages to name all
of them, why are these great movers of water, with there awesome power and
beauty not showcased nearly as much in our photography?
I've checked out several HST's contributing photographers sites and there are
very few if any shots of rivers or cascades, there are a lot of waterfalls.
I too only have a few shots from the film days, which I plan to change this season.
If you have any shots of rivers I'd love to see them.

Wow, the silence kind of speaks for itself.
Is it because they are difficult to photograph or there is not much
interest in them?
I remember decades before I carried a camera one of the most memorable
sight's I witnessed was the Devil's Washbowl in SEKI.
I was there during June and the sound was deafening with water just shooting
down from seasonal streams from all over the place, something similar to
Arnot's description in his book that I read decades later.
Those of you who have witnessed Waterwheel Falls and LeConte Falls during
early spring when the run-off is at it's highest must certainly be impressed with
its sheer power and elegance.
If anyone has been to Wildcat Point would cherish the scenery of the entire
Tuolumne River and Canyon from a bird's eye view.
What about Brunell Casacade and Silver Apron area on the Merced during
May and June with its powerful white water jetting down at speeds of 25-40 mph?
Have these beautiful works of nature not been noticed , do we just pass
them by or over them with just a mere glance, but no appreciation for
there existence?

Here's one of the S.F. San Joaquin River in Kings Canyon, taken on my JMT thru-hike.

I have a few river shots in my Photobucket accounts but I don't know how to resize the images to wehre they would fit in here? Is there a way to reduce by 20% or something with some html code? I'm not very web savvy.

Hi Buck I saw that one your Flickr site.
Do you have photoshop? If yes, then on top choose "File" and then "Open"
and click on the picture file and "Open" in Documents, or where ever you
have your files.
Click at the top click on "Image" and then on "Image Size" and reduce the "Width"
to approx 3000-2500 pixels and click "OK" that should do it.
You can also check by clicking on "File" and then on "Save for Web & Devices"
if your pic comes up in the window than your picture is small enough to be viewed on
the web, if on the other hand you get a pop-up stating that it is to big for web
viewing than you need to go back and decrease the pixel size even more.

Hola maverick! I apologize, I should've been more clear on what I meant about resizing images, because I know how to resize in Photoshop, but I meant resizing an image that is already online in a photo album, and resizing the image while actively linking it. I don't want to re-upload smaller versions of what I already have online, such as in Photobucket. It seems on the thebackpacker.com that some people were putting a 20% or some reducing factor in the link to resize the active link. I'm wondering if there's some sort of html code that can be inserted in the image link.

Actually, in bbcode the following should work, but for some reason on this forum it doesn't:

There is a mod that takes care of this problem, but I want to update to the latest forum version before installing it. That's going to take a little time, since the layout template we currently use is not compatible with the latest phpBB release. So I'm trying to find a time when A) I have the time to update, and B) when traffic to HST is at a minimum so I don't receive a million "WHAT HAPPENED??!?!" emails while the forums are down due to the update process.
