Just an FYI for those planning upcoming trips out of Rancheria+. I was out that way with my 10 year old camping/kayaking/fishing at Wishon a couple weeks ago and we decided to take a drive on the FS road leading to Rancheria. There is a medium size tree downed across the road approximately 1/2 mile or so past Rancheria Trailhead proper (approx 36.98398, -118.95427) and a medium sized snow drift after. Nothing a small electric chainsaw couldn't handle and a 4x4 couldn't plow through.
I backed out of this original trip for 9/2024 due to weather and ended up doing the Lost Coast Trail instead (which was amazing), so we have it rescheduled for 9/2025.

Re: Rancheria "Plus" Trailhead
Thanks so much for your post here. That is useful information for a number of us who use Rancheria Plus (or "High Rancheria" as I like to call it). I will be sure to bring a chainsaw in my Pathfinder unless I hear that that log has been cleared.
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
