Friends,
I'll be visiting Peter Grubb Hut during the last week of April and I'm uncertain whether it's a hiking boots or snowshoe hike. Can someone advise me and, more importantly, share how I can figure these things out on my own online? Is SnowEvaluator the best option?

Copernicus Browser are the droids you are looking for.
There’s also a webcam at Donner Summit, but the snow is so dirty on the side of the interstate it is indistinguishable from cement.
You’ll want snowshoes for the afternoon when the snow starts to lose support.
To give you a sense, Castle Peak gets a bit more snow than Palisades Ski Resort, which is open til Memorial Day most seasons.
