on that same website there is a story about a guy attempting Everest solo, in the winter, without oxygen. So you see the two extremes: make it as easy as you can and make it as hard as you can.

When I read that, I immediately thought of the 10-20 pro cyclists that died in the 90s from taking too much EPO. Their blood would turn to sludge, heart beating slower and slower... and then just stop. What could possibly go wrong.

I think that I will stick with beets, garlic and red leaf lettuce capsules, the latter being the best.

This approach is similar to using apnea masks to lower one's access to oxygen. Yea, that's a thing, too. But not my thing in either case. I think using a customized air mixture risks asphyxiation, similar to what happens when Frat boys overindulge, while huffing nitrous oxide.
