Thanks! It was a memorable adventure for sure. Lake Catherine will always hold a special place in my heart. The music is by Tool, and the song is “Parabol” from their epic album “Lateralus”. Both the songs “Parabol” & “Parabola” play together as one masterpiece. I would have included both tracks but I didn’t want to bore viewers with anything more than a 3 minute slideshow. Checkout both parts of this epic production (with lyrics) in this link. I feel like this album is about embracing the randomness of this world. “Ride the spiral to the end”…”keep going!”

7empest!
Thanks Man, that takes me back to some of my best psychedelic roots. Those two songs combined are a tour de force by these artists Tool.
I love both parts, but I think you were wise in your choice to use only the first for your beautiful Sierra images. What do you think of this-- that second song would be perfect for a video of wingsuit flyers leaping off mountains and flying wildly through the canyons. I really dug the songs, the video, and the lyrics, though I guess that, like you, I embrace the concepts of randomness and beautiful chaos, above any teleological* concepts of being. I mean the words they used like "choosing to be here in this body." On the other hand, I love the words: "...recognize this as a holy gift, and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing"

*Is that the word I'm after? Ya, that's it: Teleology [in theology] "The doctrine of design and purpose in the material world."

Thanks a lot for that 7empest. I enjoyed it 3 times through! Harlen.

I’m glad you enjoy the music! MJK writes amazing lyrics in all three of his unique bands. I’ll have to add “teleology” to my vocabulary, thanks! On a different note, I’m currently deciding whether to hike the KCHBR or YHR next July/August. Hoping the trip planning will keep me motivated during the “back to reality” slower pace of the off-season months. I’ll probably throw out another “partner wanted” post as I did for the SHR..But a solo trip will be fine by me. I struggle staying in-shape during the winter so hopefully this will motivate me to stay somewhat fit until next summer.
