I did a similar trip in August and we hiked out in the middle of the tropical storm. I'll get my long-delayed trip report up shortly (I'm also a lurker)!

Hey nunez, Lizzie and I loved this report, and we sure hope it is the first of many. I too really love that image of the storm coming in over L- Lake.
At first I thought the photo captions read from the bottom up, and thought your caption: "Pilot Knob from upper French Canyon" was for that storm picture. I thought it nice that you choose to highlight the image of Pilot Knob shining there in the very center of the image; but no, that was for the next photo wasn't it? And that isn't pilot Knob at all, but some peak hanging over Granite Park. Anyhow, I love that image, wherever it is.
We also really admire that mid-day photo down on upper French Canyon-- that's a masterful shot for the middle of the day. And your very last, parting shot of Lower Pine Lake should be on your wall!

You guys hit one of the Sierra's highlight spots, and even with all the wet, and minus the one day, I bet it felt like a great success. Cheers, Ian.

Hello all,
I'll be rerunning this trip again this year in a few days so we can enjoy it as planned. Will report back next week. Thank you all for your kind comments and I'm glad my pictures were enjoyed.

Good Luck in Granite Park. We had a crazy storm/beautiful light last time there.

There are some cool day trips to be done from Granite Park. "Croft Col" is the northern or the 2 saddles that lead to Royce Lakes, which is a special place. For climbing, both Royce Peak and Mount Julius Caesar are easy climbs with great views. Let us know how it goes.

Hello everyone,
we were able to walk the entire route we set out to walk, even enjoying an extra day of hanging out at Honeymoon lake. Weather was gorgeous all around, a bit warm to be honest but otherwise beautiful clear windless nights. Did not make it as high up Granite Park as I wished since we started late in the day after spending all morning fishing around Honeymoon. Set out from Honeymoon lake at 4am on the last day, making it to the car at 7am. Not such a crushing hike out like the last time but we enjoyed every minute of it. We totaled 24.5 miles overall. Enjoy the pictures!

Thanks for another fine report on a favorite area. Now that you guys have figured out the area, maybe your next trip will include Bear Basin next door. We recommend Merriam Lake to Feather Pass, and then Dancing Bear to Italy Pass, that way you'll include the whole of Granite Park too. All the best nunez, Ian and Lizzie.
