Cascade Lakes, Donner Summit, & Lake Spaulding

I took the 4Runner up to Cascade Lakes in Soda Springs; first time there. Beautiful spot! From there, I stopped by the Donner Lake overlook on Old Hwy 40, and hit Lake Spaulding on the way back home.

What was the road like into Cascade Lake? Do you need high clearance or four-wheel drive?

When I was there last year, no.

I wouldn't try it in my Avalon, but a 2wd SUV could get in easily.
