Nice report. I especially like the off trail backpacking action photos! That is classic off trail country of the sort that gets off trail enthusiasts excited!
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Awesome report and photos. I need to find a willing partner as when solo I’ve gotten to and skipped the Baxter route twice (just psyching myself out). A non “Adventure Alan” report of completing the route shows its practicability. Thanks for sharing.

As to shoes, I’ve found the Brooks Cascadia robust enough for any off trail route I’ve taken.

Thanks!

Baxter is the segment that could hurt you. The rest seems fine, but I have a climbing background.

I would hesitate to do this whole route solo anymore. Too old; and I don't carry an inreach.
