North Lake to Puppet Lake area - couple of questions

I'm heading out in a week, North Lake to exploring Humphreys Basin which is pretty familiar territory for me, then down French Canyon and around the corner to the Puppet Lake area.

(Is it just called the Puppet Lake area or is it the something or other basin?)

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to exploring and day hiking out of that area for a couple days. I may return over Carol Col depending on how sketchy it looks as a solo hiker.

Are there any current concerns with creek crossings in French Canyon? Anything else I should know?
