Anyways! We got to the trailhead at South Lake around 11am after driving up from LA. We moved very slowly due to our lack of acclimation, and reached our Bishop Lake campsite at 3pm. The trail was in great condition, and we didn't encounter any snow fields on our first day like we did 3 weeks prior. The sky seemed like it wanted to storm, with frequent strong gusts that kept most mosquitos at bay, but no storm was fully realized.
The next morning we had a late start, but eventually headed up and over Bishop Pass. We were aiming for the lake under Isosceles Peak in Dusy for camp, but the sky was looking rather ominous, so we deiced to go to the lake closes to trail as it was much less exposed. The storm yet again never substantiated, except for a few minutes of wind and rain.
After taking a quick nap in the early afternoon to stay out of the rain, we went on a nice walk around the lake.
The next morning we got a very early start, as we had seen that the forecast called for significant thunderstorms that day. We hustled to the top of the pass, and on the way back down, the skies started to clear. We had clear weather all day until just before reaching the parking lot, it started to drizzle. We later encountered thunderstorms at our campsite at Whitney Portal that night.
