Anyone gone from Lower Turret Lake to Spearpoint Lk?
I have been to the upper Turret Lakes and Spearpoint Lake but not Lower Turret Lake. After the meetup I hope to go to Lower Turret Lake. What is a good way to then continue to Spearpoint Lake? A traverse over the south shoulder of Pk 11544 looks OK. Is that reasonable? From Spearpoint I have already gone to Little Moccasin Lake and down to Piute trail, so know that route.

HI WD. I have done this. I was going the reverse direction, from Spearpoint to Lower Turret.
It was frankly just a contour. I dont remember anything really difficult. Some minor ups and downs. But I did not go high ..just tried to stay flat at 10800 feet or so. Lower Turret is a really nice lake, with a couple of nice campsites.

Thanks. It is always good to get on-the-ground information no matter how good something looks on Google Earth.

Hi Daisy,
Well, I've not looked to see whether Google earth gives a better perspective, but more data cannot hurt. Specifically, on our June trip around the Glacier Divide (taken as we were approaching lake 10907 with and without smoke from the Fresno fires), my wife got several images of the traverse you'll need to do. The long stream coming out of Spearpoint is the guidepost for gauging the route. Here are the shots: Cameron

I’ve done several x-c routes in this area. I didn't have any difficulty with any of these routes, and I’m old and fat. Lots of mix-and-match possibilities.
Senger Lakes to Lower Turret via Upper Turret.
Lower Turret to Spearpoint via south ridge by Pendant.
Spearpoint to Three Island. Start climbing at Big Chief outlet. Drop to Three Island by notch southwest of lake by Sharp Note. Easy drop down Senger creek this route too.
Spearpoint to Moccasin Lks is a cruise too. Mocassin to Seven Gables has a lot of large blocks. Not recommended.

Thanks everyone. I did not do the Turret loop after the meet-up. But this is good information for a future trip. I have been in this area in 2008 but did not go down to Lower Turret. I like the area and really want to go back.
