Alternative to Tuolumne Meadows Backpacker camp

there's crane flat and hodgdon meadow, both closer than valley/HH. rec.gov allows you to set "availability alert" for cancellations, but you better have your phone on 24/7. they disappear fast. hodgdon is an hour's drive away from TM, and the near eastside walkups are less than 30'. even the sites closer to Lee Vining are closer.
