Greetings All,
I will be hiking the JMT from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley, via Cathedra Lakes trailhead. Looks like the Tuolumne Meadows backpacker campsite is closed for 2024. Does anyone know if there is a spot for backpacker campers at the Cathedral Lakes trailhead to stay at the night before heading out?
Also, it appears the Tuolumne Meadows Shuttle is not operating in 2024 (good times). Does anyone know if the Tuolumne Hikers Bus is running or if the YARTS are still running from Happy Isles to Cathedral Trailhead or Tuolumne Meadows?
Thanks for any feedback.
Randy

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

The Tuolumne Meadows Hikers bus has been running since June 24th. I took it two weeks ago from Yosemite Valley to the May Lake trailhead. Info is here, click on Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows Hikers Bus: https://www.travelyosemite.com/things-t ... bus-tours/
You should reserve a ticket online in advance. It leaves from Curry Village at 8am and gets to the Tuolumne trailheads around 10pm. There us a backpackers campground in Yosemite Valley you can stay at the night before. So the best plan is to get to Yosemite Valley by what ever means, pick up your permit, stay at the backackers camp then take the shuttle in the morning to the trailhead.

Thanks maverick and GBDGBD!
@GBDGBD, did you mean 10am, not pm, on Tuolumne arrival time? Appreciate the tip!

You're right, I meant 10am. Get your tickets in advance. When I took the Hikers Bus it was nearly full. The bus driver said the previous day there were some backpackers who weren't able to buy a ticket because the bus was sold out.
