Jun 22, 2024, Jun 30, 2024 - YNSP family backpack with a kid under 5

A forum to initiate member meet-up. Looking for a hiking/climbing/fishing/skiing/etc. partner, or are you planning a trip where you wouldn't mind having some company? Last minute invites can be just as fun as a well-planned group trip (sometimes even better) so don't be shy! And be sure to post a trip report to the appropriate forum when you get back.

When: Jun 22, 2024, Jun 30, 2024
Start: Alder Creek Northern Trail Head
End: Chilnualna Falls Trailhead

Who: Mom, Dad, and 3 Year Old Toddler

Experience level backpacking with children under 5:
This will be our 4 family backpack trip. Maybe an 8th family trip that is the same style as a backpacking trip, (kayak self-support, raft self-support, bike tour).

Last backpack: Lost Coast trial April 2023. 7 days. Great times playing in the creeks, watching sunsets, practicing walking, and hiking out 15lbs of diapers.

Goals for this trip:
Keep it fun, learn from the wilderness. Play in beautiful places. Travel on foot as a family. Practice LNT.

Vision for the trip;
Heavy packs ( adults), short miles days. Lots of time for snacks, naps, and playing outside.

Looking for folks who have a kid or kids in the same age range who would be interested in joining us on this trip. There is a magic that happens when kids play together outside and as parents, we hope to facilitate that with our only child.

If you are interested in such a trip please message me.

Thanks,

~ H

Hope you'll have a great time with the toddler. It's the best time to introduce the Sierra to them as a giant playground.

I agree. We keep it mellow and focused on fun, play, and connection to nature. With a low-elevation trailhead, snow should not be an issue for us.

Cheers, H

Have a great trip HirokAi. We would have happily consider a meetup with your family about 20 years ago. Good luck, Ian and Lizzie.
