Uhh, that’s a lot of ads

Post by c9h13no3 »

I get it, web hosting isn’t free. But these ads really degrade the experience. Especially the ones that are between the username of who is posting and their post.

Maybe it is just me, or maybe this is the only way to pay for this site. But having a Star Wars themed burlesque show ad in the middle of this forum is a bit like putting a slot machine on Glenn Pass.

Made a few minor adjustments to settings but changes are not immediate, so will have to wait to see the impact they have

Yeah, I don’t see them in between user names anymore. This I can handle.

Ditto the dislike of the "burlesque show" regardless the theme or where they fall. It really is offending. I shop for Merrel shoes, and shoe ads show up- that is OK. Borderline porn is not. At least keep the ads relevant to our forum. I wonder if I made a mistake, simply clicking on the shoe ads to help HST. It seemed to result in an immediate rush of ads, some quite inappropriate.

Thanks for letting me know. A little background here - these are Google's ads which are controlled by their engine. What this means is that their engine can sometimes 1) introduce new placements/locations and auto-opt us in 2) feed ads that can be difficult to control. I'll see what I can do to make further adjustments

I never see any ads, I must be in some sort of digital warp maybe. I mostly visit this site on a Mac using Safari with an ad blocker.

I use an adblocker as well, never realized there were ads. Looks like I should find the donate link...

Ad Blockers work on laptop browsers, not apparently on cellphones (at least not on iPhones/iOS).
