14 year old granddaughter is an avid soccer player and, honestly, is rather talented. At her age, she can now be a sideline official at younger division games. So she signed up, took the class, etc.
Her mother (my daughter) coaches a team in the younger U12 division, and younger sister plays. When an official did not show for a scheduled game, granddaughter said she would do it. There was some concern about how fair she could be, with her mother as a coach and sister playing. But finally the opposing coach and head referee agreed as the alternative was a canceled game.
Not to worry. First flag she raised was on her sister, for offsides. Second was telling her mother to get back behind the sidelines and off the field. Her fairness was not in question after that.
