Chilnualna Creek crossing just past the falls

Post by fpb56 »

Heading out on a 7 day trip out of Chilnualna Falls trail head. The trail shows it crossing Chilnualna Creek a short distance past the falls. Has anyone crossed yet? Is it passable or should I go around this section for safety? I still have a few weeks and the flow could be worse but I don't know. The pictures of Yosemite don't show a lot of snow. Thanks for any information you may have. Rick

Hi Rick,
We just spent two nights at the top of the falls over the holiday weekend. Chilnualna Creek is a raging river right now and likely for the next few weeks. The unnamed creek at the top of the falls is running briskly but can be forded. There’s also a large tree that has fallen across the creek just upstream that can be crossed. That allows for good cross country travel up Chilnualna Creek for a couple of miles but crossing isn’t an option.
