I suggest adding "The Incomparable Valley: A Geologic Interpretation of the Yosemite" by Matthes. A good intro to how the Sierra was formed with an emphasis on geology.

Two that I surely thought were on the list...

History of the Sierra Nevada By Francis Farquhar.
Excellent book with a collection of essays and stories included by many of the original Sierra Explorers.

My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir. Published later and after his more well known works... still an excellent classic for lovers of Muir, the Sierra, and romantic writing.

Any of Hank Johnston's books are great: 'They Felled the Redwoods', 'The Whistles Blow no More', and 'Railroads of the Yosemite Valley' Not HIGH Sierra, but great historical books on turn of the century logging and industrialization.
