Another summer watching the Sierra Nevada from far away. No time to come out west this year yet again.

Last Thursday morning 7/14/22 about Hilton Creek Lakes greatly downsized for the web from the 5 column one row stitch blended 14000x6000 original panorama with my Sony A6000 and 30mm DC DN Sigma that is also focus stacked.

Afternoon July 7, 2022 Glen Alpine Creek basin in Desolation Wilderness rocky Jurassic metavolcanic geology landscape near peak summer greenery with wildflowers. Downsized for web version from Sony A6000 SEL85F18 focus stack blended full image size 4000x6000 pixels. Foreground Susie lake at 7790, frame top Mt. Tallac 9735 feet or 1945 feet higher. Note the mixed forest species including Sierra juniper, lodgepole pine, red fir, mountain hemlock, mountain white pine, sugar pine, with much of upper elevations whitebark pine. Areas of bare fractured bedrock, green seep and sagebrush meadows, chinquapin chaparral. The Pacific Crest Trail routes near the lower right frame edge.

Nope, quite a ways north of that. This was near the summer Gianelli trailhead, on a ski trip into the Emigrant in 2005. We got a little snow almost every night, so in the morning we usually had a few inches of fresh on top of firm corn.
