I mean, it is the most visited in California. So it isn't uncrowded...

But like most wilderness areas, there are generally places you can get away from people. You could make a killing at Eagle Lake selling cold drinks on a hot day, but if you drowned in Phipps creek it'd be a while before someone found you.
