I bought a couple of those Swiss topo maps when I was traveling through Switzerland in 1971 and still take them out to admire occasionally. They really are works of art.

I admire these map-makers artistic skills. It's a shame their cultivated expertise is slated to be replaced by automation. Will there be artists in the future? Obviously, it's also a shame that they're so busy these days drawing newly exposed landscapes.
