Hi all,
Just want to post a trip report in the form of a two part YouTube video coving a trip I did with a hiking buddy in the John Muir Wilderness. It was our first major expedition off trail, exploring Marie Lake, the Seven Gables pass, Vee Lake, the Bear Lakes, summiting Mt Julius Caesar and returning down the JMT to VVR. We were so lucky being in one of the few parts of the Sierras that was not smoke bound this year.
Part 1: VVR to Seven Gables Lakes via the Seven Gables Pass:

Part 2: Seven Gables Lakes - Bear Lakes - VVR

Our goal is to hopefully inspire you with some of the best parts of the Sierras and share enough information to enable you to recreate.

Very nice! Thank you for posting.

Thank you for the videos - it must have been a good bit of work to edit these and provide the additional captioning. They really do give the viewer the feeling of what it’s like to travel through this beautiful area.

Re: Bear Lakes Loop 2021
Thank you. It does take a while but it is like reliving the whole adventure which makes the editing almost as fun. This was the first time we planned a trip that required a substantial amount of cross country and having learned how to better plan and navigate has opened up a much larger range of possible trips for the future. Next year we are planning to hike the route taken by the Brewer expedition of 1864 through Sequoia NP that included the discovery of Mt Whitney. That requires considerable cross country and the scaling of two peaks. We now feel better prepared for that effort. Watch out for the video next year!
