Lake 11720+

Post by thegib »

has anyone stayed at the lake to the ENE of Mt Stanford (to the west of the JMT as it ascends/descends the north slope of Forester pass)? I've been drawn to it on the map but can't remember if it's too rocky for decent camping.
Thanks for any intel!

There are some photos of that lake in the later part of this writeup from a visit to that area: https://plutoniclove.com/2019/01/01/cen ... kearsarge/ I haven't camped there but I think you'll be able to find something if you talus hop to the southern end; might be kinda a slog though, and you need to be able of pitching on granite using rocks.
oh hey! you're reading my signature.

Thanks Maia!
That may have been the longest trip report I've ever read. (But it was fun the whole way thru) And your pic of my lake looks promising. Looks like you had a great trip.

I so like Google Earth. Would not be any issue for this small person. Looks like some dwarf bilberry, arctic willow, moss turf.
