Re: 2021 Fire/Smoke Impact Reports
What a change from just the beginning of the week.
There are now 16 wildfires (7 of which are satellite detected and not reported or named) in California contributing to the smoke coming in from Arizona, New Mexico, Mexico, and Nevada, which may affect the Sierra depending on the wind direction.
NWS is forecasting dry lightning storms coming into the Sierra this afternoon; there is a chance that it could start even more wildfires this afternoon and Saturday with these bone dry conditions.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Evacuation order has been lifted, looks like they got this one under control pretty fast.

Whitney Portal website says Whitney Road is closed until next Tuesday. They are refunding permits that cannot be used. Has that changed?

I do not do Facebook. Can you just tell me if the Portal Road is open now or not?
