We did a similar loop in upper Lyell fork in late August 2019:

We crossed below Lake 10217 where it was ankle deep
I would recommend staying on the south side of Lyell Fork as you descend until Hutchings Creek or so, where crossing to the North side will help you avoid a mess of boulders and willows. Then you can re-cross at the High Trail crossing.

thanks! your report was part of the reason the lyell fork lakes was tacked into our route
