Wow, great trip report. This falls into the category of things-I'll-never-even-attempt-to-do-but-will-appreciate-from-afar-like-watching-pro-athletes-play for me. I appreciate you taking us along for the ride.

I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.

Thanks @windknot, @tisarb and @LMBSGV. It's easier when it's such a beautiful and interesting route. Fun to share. Hope it inspires someone to do part of it; there's some great country in that route.

You write:
I'll say Paul; it's either that, or you suffer from sort of inability to feel heat, or comprehend exposure. The upside to this ailment is that it sets you up perfectly for climbing your high routes in the "new Sierra." Should we assume that you also thrive on smoke inhalation?
In seriousness, this trip of yours and Henry's was a brilliant and creative route, and I am glad I finally located it here. You definitely have inspired some of us--me among them! Thanks, Ian.
And I had gathered this statement from your report to comment on :Great Trip report..
first time I have ever seen someone describe getting to anvil camp in 104 degree heat as EASY!
(my italics)The East ridge of Russell was so fun! Good class 3 climbing with some exposure.

Paul, re. that 8th image-- the one with the caption: "Top of Tyndall Col looking east", I view it as looking NW from the col your guys were on-- "Tyndall Col" at the SE face of Tyndall. It includes the same lake that you called "Upper Versteeg Lake" in image #4. I am I onto the same image that you were questioning, or another. Nice shots from up there regardless!
