Those are fantastic mountain scenes Phil!! Is the second area- the Odle Peaks- also in Italy? We too want to hike around the Dolomites some fine day. Congratulations on your travels.

Not a great photo, but someone PM'ed me and this is the photo that I could not figure out how to attach to the PM.

Daisy, have you fished any of the Deep Creek Lakes?

Yes, the middle one was the most productive (not for sure but I think they are golden hybrids, photo below), but all are good. Upper seems to have smaller fish. You can drop to the middle lake inlet from the upper where the camping is more scenic. Getting from the inlet to the outlet is a bushwhack. I crossed the outlet once when the fish were so thick that I kept bumping into them with my legs! I guess they were spawning. I have not fished there for several years, so cannot say exactly what they are like now. Wyo G&F is very proactive with their fishery management and restock lakes regularly.

Nice fish!
When I enlarged the pic, it seemed there was a bit of red under its jaw, so maybe it has come Cutt in it?

Re: non-SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!
My home-away-from-home this summer in Lander was with a couple I've known since the 1970's; the fellow is a retired fishery biologist for Wyo G&F. This is what he told me; Middle Deep Creek Lake was pure golden (supposed to be now too), but G&F quit sending out biologists on the planes when stocking lakes (to save money), and the lake was accidently mis-identified (pilot only given coordinates) and he dumped in a bunch of Cutthroat. So yes, the fish could be cutthroat.
I did not get there this summer due to various reasons. You can read my trip reports if interested.
But I did get to fish the beautiful lake below (about a day's travel north of Deep Creek Lakes) and caught a nice fat cutthroat, also shown.
