Choosing a resting place in the Sierra
I have read posts recently about people possible coming to the Sierra
to die when they feel there time is close at hand.
I know a few friends who have brought there fathers ashes to be
scattered at there favorite lake or peak.
I do not plan on checking out for a long time, if I can help it,
but unforunately everyones time will come and engaging in our
sport does have its risks, though I really believe the drive to the
trailhead sometime is the riskiest part.
Have you pondered on where you would like your final resting place
to be, if you choose the Sierra?
I personally have informed my wife and have it in writing, asking my
ashes to be scattered in SEKI at my favorite lake, how about you?

Im with Maverick... near 1000 Island Lake... it is one of my most favorite places on earth. Funny this topic should be brought up. My dad was an avid sierra fisherman and backpacker. He passed away last year and I still have to make a special trip to his favorite spot.
Walking outside is where I find what's inside.

I have my spot picked out. Same place many of my friends and family have, and will have, their ashes scattered. The location could change as my wife and I grow old together, but should I go prematurely, she knows what to do.

I said this before in public forums. I don't want to be cremated. I also would avoid being buried in a public cemetary even though I know not to be seems against the law in some way. The funeral people and authorities that made that law can take a flying leap. After I'm dead they aren't going to be able to do anything about where I put myself if they can't find me. And there is no crime involved in popping off like this beforehand. So yep my bones, my shriveled hide, likely fully clothed in some sleeping bag is going to reside down in the inner depths of some large talus of the High Sierra unless I am unfortunate to meet my maker during the winter. I already know lot LOTS of places no one has ever seen and no one ever will. And with a nice view I might add including our universe of stars.
