All threads end up about dogs here :-X Bentley reminds me of my old dog.

And you picked a pretty obscure trail. Low elevation, in the Western foothills, probably not a huge draw. Bill Finch or others might know about it, but that’s an oddball.

Yeah I know. I'd be open to other low elevation hikes in the Shaver area. Almost everything notable in the area is higher elevation and likely to be covered in snow on Memorial Day.

I’m fairly familiar with the dinkey creek area (been car camping there with family for 35 years), and I dont recall any trail along dinkey creek. There are trails campers in the dinkey creek campground use to get down to the river, but not a well established trail the whole way along the river. That’s not to say you can’t make your way the whole route, there just isn’t an established trail. No campsites or fire rings either.

Possibly a couple hours drive from Shaver Lake, but have you considered the trail along the South Fork Kings River to Garlic Falls? Fairly low elevation (around 1500 feet), so could be hot.

Interesting, I have never heard of Garlic Falls. Googling it, I see it north of Hume Lake? I don't see a trail and the canyon is steep so I guess access is from downriver at the east end of Pine Flat? It is pretty low elevation. Maybe doable though. Camp sites? It looks like a rafting destination.

Right, there are equally spartan (and nearly useless) descriptions on other sites. Thus my resorting to seeking eyewitness accounts.
