I am surprised she did not have an In-reach. Most PCT hikers do. My personal opinion is that most thru-hikers are ill prepared for bad weather. Particularly when they are near the end; they have made it so far that they become a bit over-confident and think they can tough out anything. I started hiking in the Washington Cascades. People who do not know the area tend to underestimate its difficulties because of the lower altitude than either the Sierra or the Rockies. Good thing the lady who dropped her off acted on her hunch; she truly was a Trail Angel.

That's quite a story. And thankfully has a happy ending. It really shows there are some good people out there.
